In April, we hosted an inspiring event at our Raine Square boutique with our brand ambassador Matina Jewell, a retired Army Major, who worked as a peacekeeper with the United Nations during the 2006 Lebanon war.
During an interview with journalist Alice Murray, followed by a Q and A session, Matina shared her lessons on resilience and leadership, and told her incredible personal story.
A courageous and well-respected former member of the Australian Army, Matina has been awarded eight war medals for her service. She has also overcome significant adversity during her career, after breaking her back in several places and enduring a long recovery process.
In addition to her accomplishments while in the army, Matina is renowned for being a warm and engaging keynote speaker and we are honoured to have her as a Kailis brand ambassador.
Matina has always had an affinity for the sea, having grown up in Byron Bay on Australia’s east coast. She was also the first woman in the Australian Army to qualify as a Navy Diver.
“Salt water runs deep in my veins. I love wearing Kailis Jewellery and the opportunity it offers to incorporate the ocean into another area of my life,” Matina says.
“I resonate with the strength and individuality represented by Kailis’ pearls and by the women who wear them. Living their life dutifully, with beauty and grace.”
During the interview, Matina made special acknowledgement of our late Co-Founder Dr Patricia Kailis AM OBE, who is widely recognised as a female pioneer of the pearling industry in Western Australia. She also spoke about the uniqueness of the Kailis Jewellery brand, which, more than 40 years into our history, remains a family-owned, Western Australian brand.
As well as gaining valuable business and communication insights from Matina, throughout the evening guests browsed the latest Kailis collections, and enjoyed discovering more about the Kailis story.
Thank you to our guests who joined us on this very special evening.
