As with all fine jewellery, our Kailis jewellery is most radiant when worn. If cared for correctly, your jewellery will remain as beautiful as the day it was purchased, to be treasured for generations.
It is recommended fine jewellery is removed before sleeping, showering, or exercising, as such activities cause damage. Be sure to not let your pearl piece come into contact with chemicals such as hairspray, cosmetics, sunscreen, lotion, perfume or hand sanitiser, as they can affect the jewellery’s integrity.
When you are not wearing your piece, it is recommended you keep it safe and protected from other items that may cause damage by storing it in its original Kailis Jewellery box or pouch.
Silver Care
Tarnishing is a normal occurrence with sterling silver pieces. Caused by exposure to everyday chemicals, air, skin, oils and more, the result is dark discolouration on the silver that can be easily removed if regular cleaning occurs.
For many of our silver designs, a light polish using your Kailis silver polishing cloth will suffice, and a undertaking this after each wear is recommended. Please ensure you do not let the cloth come into contact with the pearl on your jewellery. Remember to also polish your piece if it is stored away, as this will help keep your piece looking bright. We are pleased to offer a Silver Polishing Kit, which contains a silver polishing spray, Kailis silver cloth, and mini soft bristle brush. This is ideal for regular at-home care of your silver pieces.
Select designs are not suited for a polishing cloth or spray – including those with a brushed finish or oxidised silver – and such pieces will need to be professionally cleaned by our team.
We do recommend a standard clean at one of our boutiques once a year. This is a complimentary in-store service. If you are unable to visit a Kailis boutique in Western Australia please contact our customer care team and they would be delighted to assist you.
If your silver piece has a considerable amount of tarnish and neither of the above methods completely removes it, we recommend a Kailis professional jeweller assesses the piece. Depending on their findings, there may be a cost associated with this service.
Gold Care
Gently wipe your gold jewellery and its pearl with your Kailis microfibre cloth after each wear to keep the piece clean and bright. When not worn, it is best to keep your gold jewellery secure in its Kailis box or pouch.
All Kailis white gold jewellery is plated with white rhodium to give it brilliant shine. Such rhodium plating naturally wears over time, depending on how often the piece is worn as well as other environmental factors. It is recommend that white gold jewellery is re-plated every two years to ensure its colour and shine is as optimal as can be.
Strand Care
Each Kailis strand is hand strung using natural silk thread. There is a knot between each pearl to maintain the shape and feel of the strand. Over time, silk thread may start to fray and show signs of wear. Loosening of this thread is deemed natural wear and tear and restringing is not covered by the warranty and so would incur a fee.
We are pleased to offer a complimentary first restring of your Kailis strand or strand bracelet if it is brought to us within five years of purchase.
